Mathematical Methods

We learn and important sets and notation, how to determine which numbers are surds, and how to simplify expressions involving surds.

We discuss index laws and work through several examples. 

We solve simple equations with only one variable. 

x > 3 means x is greater than 3. This is called an inequality. We learn how to solve inequalities with only one variable.  

We learn about parallel and perpendicular lines and their geometric relationships. 

We learn a method for solving simultaneous equations called substitution. 

We learn how to convert a word problem into a system of simultaneous linear equations, solve it, and report the result.
